The Basel Backpack is housed in a renovated historic factory, only 10 minutes from Basel’s main train station. The Basel Mobility Ticket (free public transport) is included in the rates. Wi-Fi is available free of charge. The Basel Backpack offers pleasant accommodation in an urban loft style in the Gundeldinger Feld neighbourhood. Shared showers and toilets are situated next to the private quarters. The wheelchair-accessible Basel Backpack furthermore features a kiosk and a washing machine with a dryer. "I chose this place for the convenient access to the train station (I had an early flight from Basel). I was pleasantly surprised by how cute the place was. The room is very cosy, bed is comfortable, windows can be kipped open…just super comfortable. Check-in was via a key automat after hours, which was convenient. Also the area around hostel is quite nice. I arrived very late at night and left very early so it might be different during the day, but it seemed like a cool hang out spot. I chose the private room with shared facilities. With this option, other guests play a key role in how pleasant/unpleasant it can be and because I arrived so late/left early, I had clean facilities to myself. I would definitely stay again."
"No complaints, just a heads up for other potential guests: -lots of stairs to get to room. -Bed is low to ground, so might be tricky for people with poor mobility."

"I stayed at this hostel over ten years ago and the second time also did not disappoint! The hostel is very clean, bed was comfy with a curtain provided for privacy. Nice surprise to have a resident super friendly cat in my room."
"One of the female shower drain was not working well and so ended up showering in a pond of water. Unsure if it’s usual. Otherwise no complaints."

"I stayed here for four nights during my visit to Basel. The room was clean, comfortable, and well maintained, and the staff were very friendly. I arrived late, landing after 10 p.m. at EuroAirport, but late check-in was well organised. The instructions left by the reception team were clear and easy to follow, which made the arrival process stress-free. The hotel has an excellent location, with convenient access to the city centre and Basel SBB main train station (~12 min walk), making it easy to visit Zurich (~50 min from SBB). Overall, it offers great value for money, and I would happily stay here again."
"The pillows were a bit flat for my preference, so I had to fold them. It might be helpful to provide a mix of soft and firm pillows in each room to give guests more choice."
"As always, the private rooms at this hostel are lovely, spacious, and stylish. The mattress is good, and the rooms with the private bathroom are very quiet (private rooms with a shared batroom are in another part of the building and are less quiet as they are closer to the tram, though they are also fine)."
